STARDUST

Nicholas Thompson Gallery, 2021

All works oil & mica on linen

“ As all matter on earth finds its origin in the stars, a painting is likewise composed of stardust. Using a predominate base of mineral pigments, with the addition of mica crystal, these paintings transform pigment into picture. Inspired by the energy of the physical world and its forces, these recent works aim to highlight the material, sensual and tactile dimension of an image where the experience of looking is anchored in substance. In the age of the screen, painting continues to remind us of our physical connection to the universe, it is archaic, analogue and refreshingly low-tech”.
